Vaping at perfect voltage
« on: April 02, 2011, 10:45:11 AM »
I tried every voltage range from 3.6v to 6.1v with the atty's ranging from 1.5 ohms to 3.8 ohms according to voltage selection.
Right now I am happy using:

  • 4.4v with a 2.0 ohm atty in my 08100 regulator mod which equates to 9.68 watts (2 - 3.7v batteries in series = 7.4v)
  • 4.27v with a 1.8 ohm atty in my booster mod which equates to 10.13 watts. (1 - 3.7v battery boosted)

Both setups are pretty satisfying. Plenty of vapor and not hot.

Yes using a standard mod with no regulator and a freshly charged battery at 4.2v and a 2.0 ohm atty is perfect, but not for too long as the battery starts to discharge to a lower voltage.

Sweet Spot is between 3.7v to 4.1v with a Dual Coil cartomizer. 1.6 to 1.7 ohms.
I was going to say something else about my Sweet Spot but declined. Trying to keep it clean.

My first atty on my new 3.7v bottomfeeder was a Joye 1.5 LR, and it went kaplooey in 11 days.  Hit like a monster while it lasted.  Is this a normal lifespan for this atty?  Do you think a 1.7 or 1.8 would last longer, or did I just get a dud.  I'm using a 600mah AW high drain, if that matters.  Any advice is appreciated!

I thinks that's actually pretty good for an LR atty.  They usually don't last as long, but it also depends on how much you vape.  I'm a heavy vaper and I can kill a standard atty in that much time.

For me it's 4.35 volts with 2 ohm dual coils on my 8100 vv and 5 volts with 2 ohm boge singles on my booster mods.

There is differently a juice taste difference w/ voltages. I like 2 ohms at about 4v to 4.2 volts For me, anything higher is harsh and less flavoring.

I tend to run 4.5V with my Boge single coil 3 Ohm cartomizers.  Though, I may crank it up a lot higher when I want to take short hits.

The vapor is just too hot with the multi-coils for my vaping style.  I vape like smoking a tobacco pipe.  What I want is a dual barrel setup for my cartomizers.  That way, I get more vapor, not more heat.  I can come up with a 1->2 connector, but I can't think of an easy way to make a 2->1 mouthpiece that doesn't look like bad plumbing.  Putting two cartos in your mouth is really uncomfortable.

I'm really liking 7-7.5 volts and a 2 ohm DCT. May be a little hot for some but nice flavorful short drags.

Wow, that's way to hot for me. I don't have a perfect voltage like @gknowes. Depends on my atty/carto and juice.

Yes, it does depend on the atomizer.

When I made reply #10 quite some time ago, I was using a 3 Ohm Boge cartomizer.  Now I'm using a rebuildable atomizer and they can handle a lot more power than the cartomizers I was using before.  Vapor production is much better and the taste is cleaner.  Right now, I'm at 5.6V with a 1.9 Ohm coil in a tank atomizer.  That's a hybrid wick.  I use a 1.6 Ohm coil in the rebuildable drippers and tend to run those at 5.2 Volts.  Though, I'm always looking for the next better atomizer so who knows what I may be using down the road.
