Here is my progress of my first mod.
It got too late so I will have to finish up tomorrow. I have to machine the top cap, center spike and tank details and this baby is ready to vape. I call it the Prometheus. Next will be the 14500 Boomslang.

Be warned though: you dhouldn't make your atomizer out of brass nor copper... it's ok for a prototype, but not for actual vaping.

Really not worried. I will used it as is and see what happens. The mod is solid brass but shouldn't be a worry.
It holds an 18650.

I have started an experiment. I placed a penny and a disk of the brass used in Prometheus in an out of the way place in my kitchen and covered the top of the two with my Highway One e-liquid (25% nicotine). I will check periodically to see what if any corrosion takes place. I also placed a call to the chemistry department of Ohio State University (GO BUCKS!!!!) to find out the answers to the zinc oxide question. My guess is that since zinc and copper oxide form in contact with the acids in the skin, there will be very little if any oxidation with the e-liquid. Also, as someone pointed out, the coil and liquid doesn't get hot enough to vaporize the zinc oxide since it takes a temperature of 900-1000 degrees C to do it. I will keep a close eye on my mod and the samples and if needs be, I will have the inside of the tank plated. For the ones I am selling, I am going to try 303 stainless because it is supposed to be free machining. I tried 304 stainless and it is a nightmare. I don't have the horsepower to get it to the speeds that are required but the 303 is supposed to be a lot better.
I believe that the only stainless steels that have lead in them are designated with the letter "L" in their name such as 12L14. I might be wrong but that's what I've read.

I had in one of my first rebuildables (ca. two years ago, it was a custom genisis-like atomizer) bottom cap made from brass. It turned green in few days.
Maybe you could plate it with chromium?

Chrome is an option I like.

Actually chrome plating is a most def possibility. I just made some calls and If I fill a pre-order list of 25 slots, a place in San Carlos, Ca will chrome plate them for around $6 each, $10 if he has to polish them so that is very good news.
I might just have the liquid contact surfaces done on a few because chrome is awesome but I do like the look of brass. At any rate, they will be a very cool device.

Chrome sound good. Can't have enough chrome. At least on my motorcycle. :laughing2:
Don't forget to allow tolerance for the layer of chrome for where the tank glass sits.

That's amazing work. Looks factory. Plating sounds like a good solution. Can't beat chrome for durability and corrosion resistance.

Day one of experiment: agitated the fluid and no change to the copper penny or the brass disk.

I need some help with air hole placement. I'm going to start with a .8 mm hole and work my way up to.a good draw but where should the vent hole be placed in relation to the coil height wise?

Directly adjacent to the coil, mid coil height.

Thanks, that really helps. Im thinking of installing a oring sphincter in the cap for an adjustable air flow.

Another shot. I am a firm believer in the double o-ring. The drip tip even has double o-rings.

I tried the 7x7 stainless steel cable for the wick but wasn't impressed at all. I don't know what they are doing on YouTube to make them wick like they do but I got a strange hot taste if I didn't invert.

Beautiful mod kd0afk... I rebuilt a couple of xl clearomizers using copper non resistance wire some time back and posted pictures of them on ecf..... Someone posted a link to this post.. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/modding-forum/97828-brass-juice.html (http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/modding-forum/97828-brass-juice.html) I don't know if you've changed anything about your design as far as the copper or brass tank goes. I guess flavoring could have an impact on copper or brass, especially anything containing cinnamon. Just a heads up.

Wow, that's a work of art.
I've read much talk of the cable wick, haven't tried it myself, but yeah, everyone says it works better. I don't see it myself, but I'll have to give it a try at some point. Really have no wicking complains with the coarse mesh I'm currently using. May have something to do with the size and length of the wick hole. People are using the 2mm stuff, either 7/7 or 7/19.

The next version will probably be a bottom feed like the GGTS. I like the Kanger T3 better than anything I've tried.

Not building one, just comparing the flavor and vapor of the bottom feeder. The RBA is built in to the thing. It's a true hybrid.

The Killer 705 is the best bottom fed system in a tank so far ;cheers; :popcorn: 8)

I am blown away. This is such a nice mod. You really have a talent for this. Hard to believe it's your first one. What you've done with it is really exciting and I can't wait to see what you come up with next.
