Aluminum evercool gets a lttle brother
« on: December 23, 2011, 06:24:59 PM »
This started out as a single 14500 boosted mod, but yet another bad 4050 reg ended that :wallbash:. So having lots of Puck parts laying around I decided to go with 4 aaa NIMH batteries. I usually vape at 4.4 to 4.6V anyway.  Somewhere along the way I lost one of the tiny screws for the chrome plated plastic switch I was going to put in from Monkeyboxx. Tip- do not try and solder these, the screw terminals are metal but I melted something inside the switch before the terminal got hot enough to take solder and I only ordered one, DOH. These cast boxes don't take a polish very well so I will leave it in the rough.

Before replacing some aluminum parts for chrome on my motorcycle, I used SimiChrome polish. Once polished it was hard to tell the aluminum from chrome. It took a lot of elbow grease and the shine did not last a long time.

With an aluminum case that's handled a lot, just like copper, it would be hard to keep it from dulling.

Thank you. I will try some of that polish next week. Got some heavy duty rubbing compound to take out the scratches. The mod works great. I find that I have the VV mod set to 4.6V most of the time and that is where the 4AAA box measures so I get the same vape with half the size box. I am glad I made the bigger box though, really feels good to make something complicated that works well.
