I've only been vaping for about two months and I haven't had a cig. which is a good thing but I have a concern. I'm constantly sucking on this thing whether driving or watching the boob tube. Since I've quit smoking I am not coughing my lungs up like I used to do, which is definitely a good thing, but since I'm constantly sucking in vaporized PG and VG along with a variety of flavors I wonder how long it will be before the surgeon general tells us that e-juice will cause mutations in our DNA or something to that affect.

congrats on quitting the awful ciggs. Yeah, tell me about it. I guess a lot of us vapers are constantly toking away. As far as being safe, I've wondered myself. I've been at it for over 2yrs now. Haven't heard of any scientific proof that it wasn't safe.

I've been vaping like that for 3 years, no problems so far, but I've had issues with it making my lungs sore at times so it's not harmless.  It's still hugely less damaging to your health than smoking.  At the least, it won't give me cancer.

My advice is to make sure you're using juice that vapes clean and using a clean atomizer.  I used to have trouble when I used the 510 cartomizes, but since I've gone to a rebuildable atomizer that I keep clean and I avoid flavors that don't vape clean, I've not any more issues.

I'm very leary of flavorings anymore.  If a flavor is not perfectly clear or if it's dark in color, I won't use it.  The more colorless and clear it is, the better.  Even if a flavor is clear end colorless, I won't use it if it makes my atomizer dirty quickly.

Thanks for your reply! PG is very hygroscopic and will cause dehydration of your mucus membranes and connected organs which may result in a burning sensation. If one drinks ethanol w/o diluting it, it will literally burn your mouth and throat as it absorbs any water it comes in contact with. That maybe why you said that your lungs hurt. I've noticed my throat being a little irritated after very heavy and prolonged vaping.

Drinking lots of water is always a good thing unless taken to the extreme of course. You can also decrease your PG% and increase the VG% as it is not as hygroscopic. But then again you will reduce the "throat hit" sensation.

With that level of VG you should really be putting out tons of vap!  What is your nicotine %? The more nicotine the greater the throat hit.

well tone of smoke yes...
its kinda the trend in vaping here in the ph..
stealth vaping is like close to none...very hard to do...

let me describe it this way all local producers are using that ratio..70vg and 30 pg...
something likethat...
standard build for vapers is like the 30-35ga of a 2 fold 2mm silica with a 3/1 wrap...sub ohm...ang mech pv..
no concern for safety for the most part...
hahahhaha
anyways smoke production one 5 second blow will cover you and your buddy..

as far as nic currently I am on 3mg on those so so days and moments...
and 24mg after meals, poo time and stress times...
thou I am currently building with microcoils and cotton wicks right now, just trying to be different form everyone else...

With that amount of smoke production you could get a job laying down smoke on stage at a concert or other theatrical events!

Theatrical smoke machines use glycerol (VG) for producing thick clouds of smoke. As far as the alcohol is concerned make sure you stay away from  Ethylene Glycol (a form of alcohol and toxic) instead of propylene glycol in your vap.

don't worry I stay away from those..
I use cotton as wick,,,
there was a time that I accidentally burned my wick
saw a friend who just had a shot and stupidly ask for the cotton taped on his arm..forgot that that had alcohol...
hahahhahaha

I don't know much about extracting liquid from cigar tobacco (there are YouTube videos) but I would wonder about all the bad chemicals in tobacco that we are trying to avoid. I know we would not be burning it like real smoking but one has to wonder about inhaling it in vapor form.

I've tried making juice by brewing tobacco leaves in PG.  It makes juice that tastes pretty good, but the organics in the brew foul the atomizer pretty quick.  It doesn't work as an e-cig liquid.

Yeah me too but Cigars are all natural no chemicals like cigarettes.

It's the combustion that creates most of the chemicals.  No combustion, no chemicals.  You'd get those chemicals smoking anything really.  It's the oils and organic matter in juice made directly from tobacco that causes problems.  It gunks up the atomizer really fast.  It works until that happens and you're still avoiding most of the chemicals of smoking.  Though it's not practical.  You need your juice to vape as clean as possible with an e-cig.

The only real concern I had about the health effects of vaping is if the glycerin promotes cavities or tooth decay... It shouldn't.

If you Google the term "glycerin causes cavities" you will find mixed reviews. Some say it does and others say it's a misconception.

Hi all from sunny Fla. I have been looking at the forum  today and have learned so much already. I am ready to take the next step and started to look into Mech Mods. Love the look and less parts means less breakage so my engineer step-father would say. I smoked  for 26 1/2 years. Glad to say been smoke free 2 1/2 years now. I tried to quite three times before that. I can say if it where not for the e-cig I would still be smoking.  Love the forum.

Funny how ratios vary in regions. In my area 50/50 is all that is available in stores.

I have learned the hard way how important hardware is, my brother bought a few family members dual ego and ce5's kits for the holidays, I figured all I needed to do was find the right juice and I'd be an ex smoker, after a month of frustration my local vape shop suggested the MVP V2.0 and Kanger Aero Tank Mega, what a difference, within a month I had quit and learned that even with a 2+pad habit vaping is so much more expensive! Just in the last week I got a Vapor Flask in  the mail and bought a used Hexohm V1  from one of my locals employee. My name is Clint and I am powerless over spending money on new vaping gear every chance I can! ;-)

I hear ya. I think we all went through the spending addiction early on. Once your set with your gear, spending will slow down.
