yeah well said Craig, i think that is part of the fascination with electronics.
Thanks for all the input guys " this site rocks"

That's true, with electronics there are usually several "right" ways to do something.  You can get creative a lot of times.

Amen to that brother. Guess it's a matter of preference, though it was Smart of styl to run it by other modders before attempting the build.

Just a little update finished the mod tested and all seems to be working fine. Voltage is 3.3-6 volts +/- 5% battery run time on heavy vaping with 2 trustfire 2400mah is avout 2-3 days, but they are old batteries. The new circuit slotted in fine. Went with the muratta T6 in the end. And must admit i used to have problem with the blue digital screens with the ptr chips so had to shield them to stop them fluctuating. But with the muratta T6 seems fine. I think It turned out quite nice. And again thanks for all the help on this one guys
keep on vapin'

:rockin smiley: Very nice. Looks really good. What part number potentiometer and knob are you using. Like the way it looks and not too big either.

Thanks Dave
picture 1 shows the spare pot shafts next to the mods on the worktop they are black and a bit long at 15mm so i cut them down, clean up, and painted with antique brass. I get the pots from here http://www.bitsbox.co.uk/resistors/presets.html there half way down the page finger adjust pots. jprelectric do them as well but that is in the UK.

i have a question. does it need caps for these regulators? im curious about these. have both models sitting in my desk.

what's your take anyone? thanks

Yes!
Read page 3 of the DATASHEET 0800w - DATASHEET 08060w
(5) An external 100-uF bulk capacitor is required across the input (VI and GND) for proper operation. Locate the capacitor close to the
module.
(6) An external 100-uF non-ceramic capacitor is required across the output (VO and GND) for proper operation. Locate the capacitor close
to the module. Adding additional capacitance close to the load improves the response of the regulator to load transients.

ohh ok :)

i stumbled a thread that it doesn't need capacitors. it really made me puzzled.  the other thread say that it will shorten the life of the regulator because of no caps. i will pm you the details :)

thanks

tantalum and electrolytic doesn't matter at all they say :) the space is really eating up

Hello! Noob here! Please tell me if I use the schematics on OKR-T / 10 just changing capacitors and using pin 1 with zener mosfet still I need if I use tactile switch?

I used ptr08100 , capacitors http://ro.farnell.com/rubycon/10ml100mefc6-3x5/cap-alu-elec-100uf-10v-rad/dp/8126160?Ntt=RUBYCON+-+10ML100MEFC6.3X5+-+CAPACITOR%2C+100UF%2C+10V, slide swichtfrom the the boxes AA, Trimmer : http://ro.farnell.com/te-connectivity/416xa201p/trimmer-416x-200r/dp/2329408?Ntt=TE+CONNECTIVITY+-+416XA201P+-+TRIMMER%2C+416X%2C+200R, resistor : http://ro.farnell.com/multicomp/mcmf006ff2200a50/resistor-metal-film-220-ohm-1-axial/dp/2401736?Ntt=MULTICOMP+-+MCMF006FF2200A50+-+RESISTOR%2C+METAL+FILM%2C+220+OHM%2C+1%25%2C+AXIAL, and a push button 3A @125v and given me 5,95v .In the load dropped to 4.5V . :wallbash: Can someone explain me why please?  I dont use pin 1(Schematics without N-ch mosfet and resistor 47k and without PCB - I soldered directly to the pins )
Thank you very much !

Pretty please, is there anyone who can help me? I'm stuck at N-ch mosfet and resistor 47k can you tell me exactly what I need? PCB necessarily needsd, or can I solder directly to the pins?

I have been using these Low ESR aluminum caps --> HERE
I never used the remote on/off Pin 1 on a 08100w but I assume that using the 4.7K with a zener should also work like the OKR.
Your choice for the resistor and pot are good.
There is no need for a PCB. Soldering directly to the pins are fine. It's your choice. I've done it both ways.

You voltage drop from 5.95V to 4.5v maybe the quality of the battery or a poor solder connection.

Thank you very much for the reply! I'm desperate to build this mod! What N-ch mosfet and his resistor ar exactly? Unfortunately, in Romania can buy only from Farnell

The battery ar LiPo GENS ACE 7.4 V/ 1300 mA/ 25C  I just connected the wires by hand...
I want to use tactile switch  not  the remote on/off pin 1

What will you be using the N-Ch mosfet for?
This will work good w/ two series batteries: IRLU3114ZPbF
The resistor can be a 15K ohm

Batteries are good but hand wiring can be the source of a high resistance connection causing the voltage drop.

Firing the mod using tactile switch and be able to fire sub ohm.
BTW:What is the limit sub ohm for this PV?

You mentioned in your first post about using Pin 1. It would not need a mosfet.
If you use an N-Ch mosfet, don't use pin 1. Break all negative connections using the N-Ch.
Or you can break the Vin through a P-Ch mosfet without using Pin 1

Limit for the 08100w is 55W or 10A
If you use ohms law you can figure out what the limitations are.
For instance:
10A and 50W for a 0.5 ohm coil at 5V

Thank you very much for your answers! ;bow; For N-ch MOSFET and tactile switches should I use the resistor of 15k ?
I want to use this scheme and i see a resistor of 47k

Is that http://ro.farnell.com/multicomp/mf12-15k/resistor-0-125w-1-15k/dp/9342630?
Is that ok for a master switch?http://ro.farnell.com/c-k-components/1101m2s3cqe2/switch-spdt-6a-125vac/dp/1437697
End that for the voltmeter? http://ro.farnell.com/c-k-components/os103011ms8qp1/switch-sp3t-0-1a-12vdc-pcb-on-on/dp/2319954
