My newest mod
« on: July 23, 2013, 07:08:12 PM »

After my failure with the 4050C,  :wallbash:  I decided to go "Back to Basics".  Since I had a couple of these tins lying around, I built this out of the peices of failed builds.  How's that for upcycling?  :yes"

Great job Phestr. The LED looks cool too. Keep up the great work

I have stuff laying everywhere on my work table to recycle too.

It's running a straight single 14500 - master switch - fire switch- 510 setup. Nice vape at 3.7 with a 1.8 ohm clearomizer. I love the look, but the battery life is crap. Have more Flames coming in, I think I have a bad battery. Next up is a SNUS mod with the Evercool, so keep an eye out.

Nice looking mod Phestr,
Thanks to this forum and its members, I've been able to resurrect an old plastic box mod. Originally it took 2 x 18650,s but know it takes 2 x 18350/16340's.
I made the box out of a Hammond aluminium enclosure. I cut out the back panel and made a new sliding back out of coloured Perspex.
All the components except the atty connector are from the original mod.
I'm so impressed with its performance that I'm in the process of making a 18650 version from scratch. I've already soldered the ptr08100 chip to the pcb with all its components, and it works fine, I've just got to cut/drill and alter the enclosure and fix it all together.
I would post a photo but I'm not sure how to do it yet.

Thanks for the info elzakivis.
I've clicked "Attachments and other options" but there isn't an "Attach" option.

I believe you need 3 prior posts to attach. You should be good now. The next will be #4 posts for you

Cheers, the "Attach" option as appeared and I've attached 2 images but I can't see them in preview. I'll post anyway and hope they show.

Nice looking mod, Mandro  Love that metal finish. I'm guessing it's metal, but would love to know :)

Cool.... looks really good. Where did you find the enclosure? Was it a ready made box or did you do it yourself. Doesn't matter either way because it's still way cool.

It's a Hammond aluminium enclosure, it's a good size but only the top and bottom plates are detachable. It as grooves down the insides, I think that you can slide a PCB into them.
I cut the back off so that I could work inside and then I made a new back panel from a piece of Perspex. Then I cut some strips of aluminium from the back piece that I'd cut out and glued them to the sides of the Perspex so that the back could slide into place.
The next one I make will have the same Perspex back panel but I'm going to use magnets to hold it in place.

Great mod, Mandro.  No sweat on the post, I wasn't using it just then anyway.   ;)

Gotta love those tines :) I did an evercool in that tin with dual 16340's and in a snus did it with dual 14500's :)

The 14500 with Evercool are what's planned for the SNUS.  The can is awesome, fits the hand very well.
