Where to get slide switches.
« on: April 12, 2014, 06:07:12 PM »
I'm going to go bald or blind if not both looking for mini slide switches. I can find them at the mfg's sites like E switch or C&K but can't find any place to buy them. Digikey and Mouser list them but not as stocked item's, tried chip finder w/ no luck.

Ideally a SPST on/off 3A right angle PCB mount and a STDT on/off/(on) or on/off/on vertical PCB mount, dimensions 1/2"-3/4" L x 1/4"-5/16" W x 5/15"-3/8" D

Anyone got a line on a source for something like this.

For the On/Off, use what's available. You will only be needing two pins so if it's a DPDT it's okay.
Right Angle on/off

On - Off - On

Thanx Dasen.

I ended up finding some NKK switches at Digikey, with brackets, that will fit.

Was starting to get frustrated not finding anyone that stocked the switch's I was finding on the mfg's sites.

I think I was entering to many criteria at Digikey and Mouser, once I dumbed it down a I started finding more of what I was looking for.

Thanx for the links

I need a recommendation for an on off switch. (Master switch) This is a parallel 18650 un-regulated box. I need a switch that is capable of handling this box maxed out. I have a few but im not sure I trust them with this particular box.

With the changing trend to high amperage, you may consider using a mosfet for an on/off switch. Instead of using a momentary switch, use a non-rated small slide switch to turn on the mosfet.
It would be much cheaper and a lot smaller than using a monstrous on/off switch.

I assume a p-chn would be better for this and possibly a heatsink since it would be on for a period of time? Would the resister be needed as with a fire switch?

P-Ch requires only breaking the batt pos wire while an N-Ch requires all negative wiring route to the Drain. It's your choice.
Yes resistor as you would with a fire switch mosfet setup.

The only time higher current is passed through the mosfet is when the fire button is pressed.
