Where are the cheap sx350's at
« on: May 31, 2014, 10:26:05 PM »
Hey guys I can make my own posts now =). yeehaw. anyway I'm looking for a good deal on a sx350 chip. I don't want to spend more than 60 bucks if I don't have to. I've found them floating around for 75 on the net, 74 on ebay is the cheapest I've seen with delivery. what can I say I like to pinch the pennies till my brain hurts. I'm not a super huge rush, this will be my first DIY build and I want to do it right. I have to wait till the 15th for the 510 connectors to come back on fatdaddyvapes.com as well. but any help on cheaper chips would be greatly appreciated. if someone knows of some secret dark site where there super cheap let me know please. or if someone knows a guy that can make one fall off the back of the truck even better. just make sure it didn't actually fall off the back of a truck. love this site, love the info, and love you guru's. I found this site trying to find a stainless 510 connecter. and went from a $7.50 press in to a $5.99 beautiful spring loaded guy, which I think you guys had a hand in ushering into creation.

on another not I think im about to make a battery cradle out of an old pack of smokes and piece of something metal lying around. I'm sick of this 450ma Chinese charger, and I've only charged w it twice. my micro usb on my evic is faster lol. wanna hit her w 5amps, well maybe 3 just to be safe. let me know if I can hit these Samsung 18650-26f batts w 5a charge plz. man I feel needy, can I get fries with that!

Can't say on the controller board, but as far as charging, the limit on high drain batteries is typcially 2C which is two times the charge.  So for the Sony VTC5, you could charge one with with two times 2500mAh or 5A.  Though, you'd have to verify that with a data sheet.  Might be 4 Amps or something.

I believe the Samsung batteries you mentioned are standard Li-Ions which are limited to a 1C charging rate.  So for those, you would not be able to charge faster than one times the capacity which I believe is 2A.

Keep in mind you maximize wear when you charge batteries at their maximal rate.

You're going to be limited with a USB charger to a 1A rate.  As it is, 1A pushes the connector to it's limit and also the linear type regulator chip typically used for those.  You can find very inexpensive 1A USB chargers around.  They've been discussed on the forum here.  There's one from China you can get for like a dollar a pop.  Can't say on the quality, but haven't heard anything negative yet.

If you want to go higher than 1A, you'll be getting into a non-USB configuration.  For that, I would just use a hobby charger with an accessible plug for it in the mod.  Otherwise, you can remove your cells and use a round cell charger with a higher rate, though it's hard to find them over 1A.

ya I was thinking a hobby charger I have. it charges from 1-5a whatever you set her at. I was thinking about adding leads right to the battery, with 2mm-3mm banana style connectors I got laying around or a xt60 connecter if I have room. I think the banana plugs would look more James bond though. might need to get a + and - punch set to identify the leads though. I think I may just make the battery removable and make a cradle to hold an 18650. also isn't the micro usb that comes with the sx350 500ma rated I thought that was max for micro. which if so I would be looking at going to mini. and also if so to whoever decided to do that, your lame dude don't cut off my amps.
