Newbie needing help
« on: December 04, 2011, 12:48:31 AM »
I am a long time member of ECF and I accidentally bought a mod kit when I thought I was buying a completed mod. Other members told me I should come here and look for schematics, diagrams, and some instructions. Also, maybe a veteran modder might be interested in building it for me for a fee of course. Below is a list of what I bought. If someone could tell me what I have I would be grateful!! The seller said it is an "evercool box mod"

(1) PTN04050C Boost Regulator
(1) NKK 3 Amp SB4011NOM Pushbutton Switch w/Knurled Dress Nut.
(2) 100uF 16V 10% Tantalum Capacitors
(1) 10K Ohmite Resistor
(1) 100K Ohmite Resistor
(1) 100K 82PR100KLF Single-Turn Precision Trimmer
(1) 2-Cell AA Battery Box w/On-Off Master Switch, Leads & Cover
(1) Vero 6-Hole 4 Amp Copper Stripboard
(2) 18" Strips of 18 gauge Solid Copper Wire w/Thick Shielding
(1) 12" Strip of 0.8mm Lead-Free Rosin Core Solder
(1) Small Tube of Solder Flux

Any info would be appreciated

Not really.  The Evercool uses dual batteries in series with a buck converter (step-down regulator).  The PTN04050C is a boost converter (step-up regulator) that uses a single 3.7V Li-Ion.  The schematic is posted for that here.  Check this thread .

From what i see here, you have every thing for a booster mod, vari volt. specfically look at 44 mini booster mod for instructions and should be a easy build.

Test the regulator before you install it. I put mine together but had a bad regulator. Test instructions are toward the end of the 44 thread.
