I like to mix with 90% VG and 10% PG. It gives me just the right throat hit. I'm not allergic like some people are so I can tolerate the PG. I sometimes go 20% PG.

I've heard that Vegetable Glycerin is a type of oil... could this be harmful to the lungs with long term use?

Although VG is a vegetable oil base, it dissolves and cleans up easily with water. Some suppliers add 10% water to their VG to thin it out. A real oil base does not mix in water as some flavoring which should be mixed with alcohol (PGA/Everclear/vodka).
Can't find anything about long term use and harm to the lungs.

Use a ratio of PG and VG. You may want to try a 50/50 mix and go from there. The more PG the more the throat hit. If you are not bothered by PG than use more PG. Not everyone can tolerate PG, including myself.

I personally stay away from ordering from China. Price's are real cheap but shipping cost are very high and the wait is forever. Also, quality control ??? Does it even exist? Perhaps not.

Vapor_freak, I personally don't look for the cheapest. I look for quality at the best price. Look for sales.

I tried a 50/50 blend and like it. I found that my juice wicks better and have to top off my carts less.

I use a blend of 40% PG and 60% VG. I thin the VG with Everclear 151 using 2 parts liquor and 13 parts VG. Makes the vapors lighter and less greasy feeling. That's one thing I dislike with a high VG mix, the grain alcohol resolves that for me. I actually like an 80% PG, 20% pure VG mix better, but the high PG mix is a bit hard on my throat as much as I vape.

I have tried every possible combination of VG/PG mix and have decided that 80/20 is the best for many reasons, the top reason I would say would be the vapor production, this and better control of TH through tobacco blends and PGA.
My wife had a bad reaction from too much PG and as a result we have decided that high PG is the devil. :vomit:

My wife has issues with VG so it's not just PG. VG causes indigestion for her. She vapes a mix with only 10% VG in it. She would vape 100% PG, but if you've ever tried it, a straight PG mix is not very good.

I don't know if it is coincidence but I have been vaping since May and have developed a rash on the top of my hands and elbows. I guess the only way to tell for sure is to quit using PG, dang, and see if it resolves.

I will give 10% a try with my next personal batch. Hoping it will help. Have you needed to thin your formulas using 10% PG or does your wick system handle the 10% ok?

Wicking is poor with 90% VG so try some PGA as @CraigHB suggested.

Thanks I will let you know how it goes with the PGA never used it but will figure it out with the calculator. Great suggestion.

A good source for VG is your local Homebrew store. They sell it for thickening wines and Liquers. It's USP.

PGA is actually hard to get a hold of since it's heavily regulated and not allowed in many states. You can use Everclear 151 which is almost pure at 75% grain alcohol. That's widely available. You can also just use purified water. PGA is nice because it makes the vape feel lighter like a higher PG mix. It eliminates the greasy feel a high VG mix can have and it adds a nice subtle flavor.

CraigHB you are one of those lucky ones that live in a state that you can ship alc to. I can't even join a beer of the month club here in TX. At least I can get Everclear here. great for cleaning and drying out atomizers and carts.

It's good that I can the stuff shipped to me because it's not allowed in stores here. Though if worse comes to worst, I can always use the 151. It works just about as good. I probably couldn't tell the difference if I didn't know one way or the other.
PGA is too expensive to use for cleaning atomizers. I use the 91% rubbing alcohol you get from the drugstore for that. I actually have some pure technical grade isopropyl alcohol I use for cleaning circuit boards after soldering, but again it's too expensive to use for cleaning atomizers.

I only use enough to cover my parts and only after they have been well rinsed and soaked in hot water. It's mainly for absorbing the water and breaking down any water resistant stuff. I'm new to vapeing and don't have many extra atomizers around. It helps with turn-around, without dry burning my atomizers. I'm afraid I'll burn them up.
