Title: DIY spring loaded 510--- Button switch remote housing

Hi I am in the process of making another SX350 box mod. I have made this spring loaded 510 for the mod and thought you might like to see how it was made. It's of simple construction the photos will explain it. The idea comes from wanting something that will not take up much room inside the box which this has achieved. Any questions please ask.   Edit ---- the sketch in the first photo is for the switch I have posted below.

Hi here is the switch I have made for the mod. I have made a remote housing to hold a button switch. I have posted the sketch showing the details for the switch in the last post by mistake. Here are some pic of the switch. The plate that the 510 and switch are fitted into will be cut to size and polished when the wooden box
For the mod is glued together.

Hi thanks for the complement. I'm not a machinist, I just enjoy making mods as a hobby, and post a few ideas hoping to encourage other vapers to have a go at making there own mods.

Hi, thought I would give you an update . The SX350 box mod is almost finished. Testing it before I secure the  top and bottom plates, clean it up and give it a couple of coats of French polish. The box is  mahogany, the metal parts are aluminum. It's running on a 1200 mAH lipo battery. The  dimensions of the mod are
65mm x 37mm x25mm. Here is a pic of it.
  Edit--- here are a couple of pic showing the inside of the mod. The pic showing the red charging light in the bottom plate of the mod, this viewing hole also acts as a vent for the battery.

Hi, The plates are held on with pearl glue which is what  antique furniture is glued up with. I used this  because if I should have to gain access, the plates can be removed by applying a domestic iron on the  plates
and the glue will soften and release the bond. I know this method is unorthodox but I didn't want any screws showing.

Wow...absolutely beautiful mod. What are you using to machine the aluminum if you dont mind me asking?

Hi dravell. The aluminum was cut roughly to size on the band saw, and machined on the  lathe. After cutting the the raised top on the mods  plate the hole for the 510 was counterbored and fitted at the same setting.
Here are a few pic taken whilst making the plate. The switch was fitted in a simular manner, then the plate was trimmed, filed to size and polished.

Stuff like this makes me justify buying a lathe more and more...lol
I know I wont be turning out gorgeous work like that but I would sure love to give it a shot.

Hi, I have made a squonking mod with a home made spring loaded 510 with centre pin drilled out. It's powered with a 18650 battery and its working well. Here are a couple of pic of it.
