Title: eJuice Me Up does NOT run. Shuts down.
Post by: Breaktru on October 11, 2010, 03:49:49 PM
Dave,
I'd love to start using it ... I've downloaded it a few different times, it installs fine, it never actually opens, I get this msg :
"e-juice me up" has encountered a problem and must close, etc, etc, etc
I've tried as administrator, I've tried W2000 compatibility mode, and most everything else I can think of ... I use XP Pro ... I just don't know what's blocking it ???
I doubt it is your program, but hoping you may have a suggestion
thanks for any help, Bill

Hi Bob,
It has been tested and has been in use for several months on all of the Windows versions from Windows 7, 32 & 64bit to Win 95.
Make sure that you have Microsoft.NET Framework 3.5.
You can check by going to Control Panel, Add/Remove to see if it's there.

I strongly recommend having your Windows Update on so critical files can be updated, like Framework.

Best Regards,
Dave Giordano
Breaktru Software

Hi Dave,
success !! ... I had to download net framework 3.5, altho I already had 4.0, so I woulda thought they were included ... apparently not ...

glad to have your program running, my mixing will now be much easier ... I'll keep checking your website, you seem to be a prolific developer of tools : )
thanks and best regards, Bob

Thanks for your help Dave of Breaktru, I didn't realize that I did not have Windows update on and there was so many critical updates waiting to be installed. As you pointed out to me, the updates are not only for running new software that requires updated windows system files but for security patches for vulnerable security holes that hackers have found and Microsoft has fixed. Your eJuice Me Up software is fantastic. I don't have to worry any more about OD'ing on nicotine because of guess work. And I have some nice blends of my own DIY recipes that I will email you for inclusion to your on line database. Again, Thanks Dave, your responses are fast too. P.S. I like the new features in version 6.2.0.0

Didn't know there were new versions released, got to check back more often for updates. Cool Mon, the new features added make this software even better. Your the Mon to beat. Rock on!

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
    <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

Any idea whats this about?

System:  WinXp SP2 dot.Net a bgumch, 1.0 thru 4.0

I don't have windows 10.

This is Windows XP SP2.

Error seems to be connected to dotNet 2.0.  I have NETFramework
2.0 SP1 installed.  It will not uninstall.

I tried re-installing dotNET 2.0 SP1 and it gives a "setup error."

There is no directory named "WINDOWS/assembly/GAC_MSIL"

Unless I'm mistaken, NET Framework 2.0 should nave installed it.

Any Ideas?

Well I used a utility called Unlocker.  I used it to "unlock"
the directory  "windows/assembly."

The program then installed.

What "owned" that directory contents I don't know.
Why the "owning" preventing the installation of your
program,,,I don't know.

BTW this problem is related to Framework 2.0 from what
I can tell.

I do have dot.NET 3.5 installed.

As stated before, the problem seems to be dot.NET 2.0
"locking" some processases from performing.

.Net Framework 3.5 includes 2.0 and 3.0
Something on your PC was preventing it or maybe it was corrupted.

Working fine for me.

Well, thanks for the replies.

Doesn't tell me why "unlocking" that assemly direcrory fixes the problem.

Why should it be locked?

That's strange that a directory would be locked. I'm sure it has nothing to do with the ejuice calculator software.
Do you think maybe it has something to do with Administrator Privilege preventing it?

Since my last message I've had to reinstall Windows XP.

Previous version was under XP SP2 with admin privilages; curremt version is SP3 with all netFrameWorks installed, as was SP2.

Installation of "eJuice Me Up" under XP SP3 with admin privilages went without drama.

Is that a clue?

Seems to me that the only difference between installations is the Service Pack levels.
