Title: Neep help with the new calculator
Post by: CanadaVapes on December 01, 2011, 07:35:59 PM
Hi there, I've been using the calculator for a long time now and I Love it.
My problem is I reformatted my pc and had to download the new one.
Can someone please explain to me how I use it, using no PG,
I  only use VG and flavoring.
 I usually enter my non-flavor nic-juice ( 50mg ),, target strength ( 12mg ),,, amount to make  ( 10ml )

 Help please,lol

 Thanks.

Here's what I used to enter,,
 nic juice  50mg
 target strenght  12mg
 amount to make 10 ml
Flavor strength  20%
 Hit calculate then,,
I just added the VG and PG as all my PG.

I hope I am making sense to you,lol

See How To: http://breaktru.com/smf/index.php/topic,205.0.html (http://breaktru.com/smf/index.php/topic,205.0.html)

Don't forget to enter your Nic PG/VG ratio. Are you using Nic w/ 100% VG?
Most flavoring has a PG base unless you know otherwise. There are a few that have no PG or VG. In that case you would check the box next to the flavoring marked "Flavor Zero PG/VG".

I love this calculator, but it's starting to act up on me now and then.
It doesn't happen everytime, but quite often.
I put all my info in, and when I hit "calculate", it throws an error message saying "Unhandled Exception", and I need to close it.
I then have to shut it down, re-open it and start all over again.
It can happen repeatedly, and then it can run through 10 recipes with no problem, before doing it again.
I've removed the program, downloaded a fresh copy, and it still does it.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I will continue to use this program, but it's a PIA having to shut it down and start all over again after spending 10 minutes getting all my info typed in.
Thanks for any info.

Sounds like there may be an INVALID entry in one of the boxes that you are entering your numbers in. Make sure you are using NUMBERS ONLY. When you see the Unhandled Exception window, it will tell you what caused the error.

I chose not to handle the errors because users usually do not read warnings and continue using the software without fully understanding what's going on. This could lead to improper calculations of ingredients so I felt it best to have the program close after displaying the Detailed Unhandled Exception Window.

"When you see the Unhandled Exception window, it will tell you what caused the error."

According to the "details" in the box, it's the word "Double", which I use, such as Double Chocolate as a flavor.
I've tried it three times in a row, and it just won't calculate that recipe for me.
I can run a couple of other recipes with no problem, but when I come back to my "double chocolate" it flips on me again.
I tried shortening the double to "Dbl", but I can't sneak it past it.
I was hoping when the new version came out a while back, my problem would go away .... but nope !
I always double check the boxes before calculating, because your right about it not being a "toy" so to speak. :)

Thank you for answering me, and I understand your position.
I'm used to it happening off and on, and was just hoping to make it go away, but alas.
I can keep living with having to start over once in a while, because I'm not giving up this program ... I love it
Thanks again.

I love your program and will continue using it.

Update
I played and played with that recipe.
What caused it to trip up was because I was removing the zeros in the % line.
If I don't use all the flavor lines, I empty the ones I don't use to un-clutter my printout.
I always do that, but I don't always remove the zeros in the % line, but when I do,  that's when it flips on me.
When I put the zeros back in, your program is happy.
Now, ... so am I.   It was my mistake ...
I won't have to start all over again anymore.
Thanks again

Glad you found your err. The zero's are necessary for calculation. A null number would cause a problem.
