i can get an already made 5vlt regulator already to go n be put into my own made mod box, all i'll have to do is solder it in?, is this possible? resone being that i have no clue what to get n how to make it, i just know basic skills in electrical things n soldering. I am a carpenter by trade. Jack of all master of non, lol . thanks for any help :)

Here are a couple that are internally wired and only need 4 connections. battery in and voltage out:

+1 on the dimension engineering SWADJ-3. It is a small package with only 3 wires to solder.

Doesn't get any easier than that.

thanks guys i really appreciate the help :)

if you like a step-up 5 volt reg. i've used a vpack pcb aaa.not cheep 9.95 but nice in a 2aa battery box .this pcb will not work on a dual coil atty.http://www.bodhilads.com.the aaa fits in one battery slot hope that helps

Are any of these available as vv?

i would personally try madvapes they have got kits and on-line instructions, that is where i started anyway. when i first started i couldn`t even solder well i am a heavyhanded labourer  but today i have just done my first evercool and it is addictive, but don`t rush and if you get stuck just ask as there is always someone who`ll help you out especailly on the ecf. i am totally addicted ask my missis :laughing2:

Anyone know where the best lounge is in So. Cal?

Why not use PWM? Mod father has a mini board on osh park 3 for $.80 and can vape up to whatever wattage your batteries can handle. I would gladly sell you a completed board for like $2 if you want the 93pr10klf pot with it it'd be like $4.50. Then you just solder the positive negative and lead to the switch and the rest is a regular mosfet box mod. These little boards get more of my use than my okl-t/20

What exactly is a PWM mod..I've only done vv /vw and unregulated mods? And what's the deal with the buck/boost converters... I've got one somewhere don't know where it came from..it's the big one with the voltmwter on it.

PWM or pulse width modulation is essentially a way to control a device by pulsing the output voltage to mimic lower voltages, by using a potentiometer you change the distance between the pulses creating the effect of a lower or higher voltage. So with few components in conjunction with a typical mosfet set up for a series box you have a regulated mod who's only bottleneck is pretty much the mosfets rating and battery rating.
As for those all in one buck/boost convertors, I'm guessing like this; http://i00.i.aliimg.com/wsphoto/v0/32296050204_5/DC-DC-Auto-Step-Up-Down-Buck-Boost-Converter-Voltmeter-Module-DC-DC-Adapter-solar-panels.jpg
They usually have very low current output so even though you can go from say 3-30v it only outputs usually 1-3A which isn't much unless you vape at very high resistance. You'd need in my opinion at least 10A output if you vape at 1ohm or below.

Thanks for the explanation! I assume a PWM is pretty effecient mod. I don't totally understand what causes the pot to pulse the voltage unless it's a digipot. Which I have zero understanding of.
As far as the buck boost things I'll never even consider those. Everyone I know vapes super sub ohm 0.15-0.05 my CCI Archon with dual 8wrap macro coiled 20g mad rabbit wire is at 0.1 on 130watts I've won a few local cloud comps with it.
