Title: Easy to understand electronics.
Post by: pnguin on January 06, 2012, 05:21:48 AM
Like a lot of other folks I am new to electronics and am teaching myself with a lot of help from the good folks on this and other forums (until I start the biomedical electronic engineering core classes this semester, I will be the gray haired old dude in the graduation pics). I found a great easy to understand, FREE, electronics theory course online at this website

Hope you all enjoy it.

There is also an easy to build bench top power supply in this course. I am picking up an old TV to scrounge the transformer this weekend. Basically hook a transformer to a linear regulated variable voltage circuit (just like the old VV Mods) and Bob's your uncle, 1.2-30VDC power supply for bench testing your mod circuits.

Looks like a good one.  Of course, my favorite is All About Circuits (http://www.allaboutcircuits.com/vol_1/index.html).  I've even been known to reference the advanced topics on occasion myself, but ssshhhh, dont' tell anyone :)

That's a good one also. I like the water tower analogies. :rockin smiley:

Hey pnguin, how did you make out with the electronics theory course online?
Did ya go to the prom yet   :laughing2:

All kidding aside, was it helpful?

Sorry it took so long for a reply Tommygun, an 8 week summer calculus class left no time for anything but studying. The online course is great really simplifies the stuff they teach at school. Way less math and more pictures. Kind of like this board, much easier to understand.

Hey guys,

I am looking for a simple ohm meter schematic that will fit in a very small plastic box to use inline on my mods to check the ohms of the delivery device. would also like one that reads voltage if it can be combined all the better.

Please help

Here is a great set of books. They have examples of all kinds of circuits, including digital logic. The Getting Started in Electronics book has all the stuff that my $300 textbook from school has in a simplified form with pictures. The engineers notebooks have a ton of circuits and how to substitute different types of gates.
