Good stuff man.
I'm pretty much sold on the rebuildable drippers. They hold enough juice (15 drops) it's really not a big deal they don't have a tank. I have two right now, one I got from Vapour Hut which is a Bulli A2-T knockof converted to a dripper and the Bullet from The House of Vapor which is exactly the same as the Phoenix except it has a tapered top instead of a squared off one.
I'm having some issues with the Phoenix style one. It looks like they use nylon insulators on the posts and the center contact. The Phoenix shown in the video looks exactly the same. The insulators are melting. I typically run a 34 AWG coil at 2.6 Ohms with 5.2V for a little over 10 watts. It can't take the heat of my chain vaping. The center post has recessed enough to cause a short if I screw it in too tight. The insulators on the posts are melting and sticking to the wick. Bad news on that.
Also, the coil terminals on the Phoenix are a royal pain in the ass. The reviewer makes a small issue of it, but it's not a small issue. The coil ends are almost impossible to thread through the tiny holes without a magnifier and a pair of fine tweezers.
The one advantage of the Phoenix is you can use a vertical coil and SS wick, but those SS wicks are such a RPITA, I'm done with them. I just don't think they're worth the trouble.
The Bulli A2-T knockoff has much better construction and the coil terminals are much nicer. I found a dripper version, link below, but I can't find any retailers for it. That's the one I want. If you look at that link, there's a photo showing a range of rebuildables they offer. The A2-T knockoff is shown there as well as the Phoenix.

Sorry to hear about SS mesh being a PITA. I guess I'll find out soon enough. I think I first start w/ cotton and Kathal.
There's so many people offering tips and tricks. Everyone has their own spin on coils and wicks and air vents.

I know you are a noob to this but, do not give up so easy on the SS wick it is the best IMHO ;cheers;
Cheap Chinese crap made to half work for awhile Just make yourself a good USA one. ;cheers;
;cheers;

Well, it must be an art and I'm a lousy artist. I'm done with it for now. Silica wicks are so much easier to work with that SS wicks have to be like a world apart for it to be worth the headache. My experience with them so far indicates they are not. In any case, I don't see how an SS wick is going to be of great benefit in a dripping atty.
As far as making rebuildable atomizers yourself, that's no problem if you have a machine shop at your disposal or you have no issue running around with something exceedingly large (which I do). A local machinist would charge me several hundred dollars to make something small for me. You can get Chinese machine shops to do stuff cheap for you, but you need some quantity to get the cost down and it's still not going to be anywhere near the $15 a pop they charge retail for these small rebuildable dripping atties.

Yes SS is a world apart for the better Craig just don't give up it's not black magic.
I use SS in my drippers as well as my Genisis atties and I made them all myself without a machine shop. Check out some of my posts on here or VW, VF, VG or VT
Not accounting for time and effort, you can make a dripper for next to nothing with an old tube and a tube cutter and a few connections ;cheers;

If building one requires more than a Dremel and a file, then I'm s#it out of luck :laughing:
-
IMHO... I find buying a 15 dollar rebuildable tank or atty and then rework it to perfection the better solution. I would not be able to build one from scratch and keep it to a respectable size.

That's what I intend to do with my store bought rebuildables

Making your own eGo Genesis. Pretty crude way of doing it without tooling. I personally wouldn't use the glue she uses in the video and not sure if heat shrink is toxic

Crude but it was her first try

Well, my first genisis (done two years ago) was from a juice bottle cap and a ceramic taken from some CE2 carto... ;)

This looks like a really well build RBA made in the USA

According to the video, Scott says that they are well made. The AC9 is a bit pricey at $139.95

What is the Clone name for something like this?

The SmokTech RSST is a clone.

this one is an alternative approach to gennys.

I have been using this method and it's seems to work wonderful. I use a little more cotton than the video and cover the whole SS mesh.

The Clapton Coil

So... lol on the forum i normally post on we have been chatting about cotton and normal coils, not micro coils, like me many have experimented with cotton in the past/present, a lot find that cotton taste is off putting, as i did when i first tried cotton (that was a long time ago in a ce4 lol)
but over the last couple of months i have experimented with cotton and have found that more is less, i recorded a short video on how i build my cotton coils (its on a hybrid dripper called a 201)
for this build i used 0.25 A1 kanthal and ordinary cotton.
iI would suggest you turn the volume down (i recorded it in the kitchen when the washing machine was going lol). There is no vocals just a man some wire some cotton and a dripper :)

I think that cotton (sterile cotton balls) is the best wick. I've been using it for quite sometime and think it doesn't have a bad taste. I once tried cotton yarn and boiled the hell out of it but it tasted awful.
I make large diameter coils with 28ga kanthal A1 so I can thread through a large width of cotton. It seems to wick well and rarely get a dry burn.
-
I never got a dry burn , what people seem to find is that when too much cotton is used the flavour is some what muted, and has a cotton aftertaste. So I knocked the video together to show just how little cotton you need to use. :)
-
I must be weird. I use a lot of cotton. It stays nice and wet because of the mass and flavor is never muted. Comparing it to less cotton I would get more dry hits with less cotton because the heat of the coil vaporized the juice faster. At least that is what I'm experiencing. I tried every rebuildable method known to man so I have a lot of comparison under my belt. From Pyrex over SS, Ceramic (fish wick), SS mesh (all gauges), silica, Nextel sleeving, Ekowool, etc...
