Post by: Breaktru on January 03, 2010, 10:48:42 AM
Import Last Years Employee's/user Info
Before importing, setup State & City if your don't see your state checkbox in the State Setup Window. On main form, use File, Open. Find "Your State.use" - Save as employee's name. Close Payroll Software. Find Your State Here: https://www.breaktru.com/statesetup.html
Note: make sure you spell the employee's name exactly like last years saved file name.

ALL Windows users:
If you would like to save time and do not want to enter an employee's/user's name, address, etc... and hourly rate, marital status, number of exemptions, pay frequency again, follow this tip:
In Windows Explorer, Open last years folder "C:\Payroll 2021" and copy the employees 2 files: "John E Doe.use" and "John E Doe.and" ONLY! to the new folder "C:\Payroll 2022". Make sure before copying that both Payroll Programs are NOT opened.
After copying the said files, open the New Payroll software and choose "File", "Open". Find the copied employee's file name in the new folder "C:\Payroll 2022". After opening, select "File", "Save" before continuing with your calculations.

FOR PAYROLL 2011 Version 11.0.0 to 11.1.1:

1) Open Payroll 2011 and go to menu File, Open, Find your state.
2) Go to File, Save, Change your state name to the Employee's name. Make sure spelling is the same as 2010 employee name.
3) Close Payroll 2011.
4) Open (2) Windows Explorers Windows and place One on the left and one on the right of your screen.
    a. The left window navigate to:
        Computer-Local Disk(C:)-Users-YourWindowsUserName-AppData-Local-VirtualStore-Program Files (x86)-Payroll 2010
    b. The right window navigate to:
        Computer-Local Disk(C:)-Users-YourWindowsUserName-AppData-Local-VirtualStore-Program Files (x86)-Payroll 2011
    c. In Payroll 2010, Find the Files "EmployeeName.use" and "EmployeeName.and". Click and drag with your mouse while holding
the "Ctrl" key down to the Payroll 2011 folder. You should see a "+" sign on the icon indicating a copy.
    d. Close both Window Explorer Windows.

5) Start Payroll 2011 and Open the Employee's Name File. Go to the menu "Options" and check that all settings are correct.
You may have to redo the "State Marital Status" and "State Defendants" Only. Everything else should be the same.
6) Check the menu, State Tax and make sure that's okay.
      a. Your YTD form should be empty for the New Year.
7) Go to File, Save and Save as the employee's name. The Employee's name should already be in the text box.
And that's it. I tried this a number of times and it works.
