OKR t10 aluminum box mod (my first)
« on: January 19, 2014, 09:29:55 PM »
OKR t10 aluminum box mod :-D its my very first mod inspired by "The Duke" by TheGoss. The box is big!! Hoping to slim things down with more mods to come. I like the heft. Absolutely a stay at home mod. Awaiting the proper battery sleds before I actually use it but voltages are spot on now thanks to the forums great helping hands. There are 2 510 connectors. Reason is, they're epoxied in because I don't trust press fits in aluminum so I have a backup connector. A blank plug will be fitted over the secondary connector for aesthetics. The cover is held on by neodymium magnets and adjustable screw posts that I still need to adjust and lock in place. The pot is replaceable using the PCB mount. Just unthread and replace should it go bad. (Only has a 200 turn lifespan. I'm sure I will be tweaking a lot with different atomisers.) Hopefully it will last awhile and lead me on to some of the amazing mods you guys are posting here! Cheers everyone and thanks for looking  ;cheers;

 :rockin smiley: nice job for your first mod.
I doubt you will be tuning your pot to often once you find the right spot. Nice idea though

Yeah, I'm always nervous of something so permanent crapping out *chuckle* thanks for the kudos :-D I've got a long way to go knowledge wise but I am really looking forward to learning about touch switches and voltage cutoff circuitry as well as making mods more efficient voltage wise and size wise. Thanks for looking!

Nice mod

You may be surprised with one setting after the newness wears off,  I have not changed it a long while.. I use 4.3v  from 1.8 - 3.4ohm  same setting across the day..
I just ruined an innokin iclear16 atomizer, you  are having a much better day with dual 510's.  Freakin i16 had machine grease in there it was enough to discolor the grommet,  gross..

Thank you! I kinda figured an extra 510 couldn't hurt with all the real estate I had to work with anyways and they're cheap so why not just wire an extra one. Can't wait to get the battery sleds today so I can actually USE it and not just test it  :thumbsup:

Great job on your first mod!  I like the idea of 2 connectors too.  Could we have a look at your pot setup?  Sounds like an interesting idea.   :thumbsup:

I will have to take pics later on of the pot mounting setup, at work at the moment :-D its the 3rd pic down to give you a rough idea. Just spaced the pot with a 3/8 plastic bracket and ran the wires behind the PCB mount. Just loosen the screws and the pot comes out the top, insert a new one if needed and snug them down, back in business!

Looks good.

You might find the pot holds up better than the ratings provided.  Those are guranteed lifespans.  Most of the time parts hold up longer than what they say.

What size magnets are you using there?

Sorry!! I've been away for awhile. They are 1/4" by 1/8" neyodimium magnets from amazon. I just bored the stick holes out and epoxied them in. I used the screws as well. Trimmed the heads, epoxied and set the depth so the cover sat tight and let it sit.

Sorry I've been away! I got the switch on eBay here:

The switch is still working great! Sorry for the delay  :facepalm:
