My nooby mods, and my new OKR T/10
« on: April 12, 2014, 02:41:58 PM »
Been reading the forum for a while and made a few comments, but thought it was time to post pictures of some of my builds.

Now I am not an artisan, or anything close, so my stuff ends up being a bit messy, but it works and makes me a happy vaper.

Here are my first two boxes, using the KIS-3r33s board, which is a 4 amp step down board.  They both have the same build, but one is 2x18650 and the other is 2x18350.  The little flick switch changes the display from voltage out and atty fire, to voltage in and no atty.  Guill gets the credit here for helping with the circuit.

I got an order through from DigiKey yesterday with my long lusted for OKR T/10 to make a more powerful couple of mods for my dual coil builds and quickly knocked something up in a huge plastic case but it is vaping like a dream.  This forum has been stupidly helpful in this build and fair amounts of credit have to go to Breaktru, Mamu, the guy that made The Duke, and pretty much everyone else that has posted about the chip.

Currently paired with a Magma dual coiled at 0.6 ohms at 4.2 volts and vaping like a dream.  Everything inside is nice and cool and the batteries seem to be discharging equally.  Under load, the batteries are dropping 0.3v as a pair and the difference in voltage from loaded and unloaded seems about 0.1v regardless of what I throw on it.  Exactly the sort of performance I was looking for.

In my real build I am obviously going to be using a much smaller case, and I am probably going to use the zener diode for 6v cut off, and I am debating whether to use a voltmeter or to make one as a 510 attachment to keep the mod looking clean.

I welcome feedback, so please let me know what you think!

Cheers
Stu

Those are mighty big. Once you got the mod thing down, sizing down will come easy.
Congrats on you new found hobby making stu.  :yes"

Yes they are rather bulky but on thing I struggle with is fitting things in so was pleased to have so much room to work with when playing with the okr. I have just been measuring up some wood to rehome it but it will be my first attempt at making something like that from scratch so I am a little apprehensive. Oh well, if it doesn't go to plan all I will have lost is a bit of time and it's more productive than some other things I do ha ha.

Plus I hadn't used a soldering iron four months ago and I seem to be doing ok there.

Nice work  :rockin smiley:
Glad to hear that they are working great, that's the most important thing.
I don't check the voltage very often so I use a 510 screw in meter most of the time, it does free up a lot of space.

Well my wooden case is at a standstill for want of a new clamp, so I went ahead and stuck it in an aluminium box, with a smaller button and a better pot.  Could still go a lot smaller, but this is a nice size for my inside pocket and it performs like a beast.

Congrats Jashe, Nothing like a good ole mod that can regulate your output.
