Itazte VV V3 makeover
« on: April 27, 2014, 12:08:20 AM »
 First I would like to say this forum is second to none! :beer-toast:

Itazte VV V3 makeover comes out of necessity. This is my at work vape and this is the reason for this topic.
 This little baby decided to take a 25ft plunge. Amazingly the thing still works! Cannot say the same for the tank. fainting:
Every function of this unit functions ( some better than others) and so I am looking for ideas to give the internals a change of scenery.

 :help: SUGGESTIONS anyone??

Yes in deed. This forum rocks  :rockin smiley:

Amazing that the iTazte survived a 25 ft fall. If it still works why not leave it as is for a backup.
If you got the bug to mod, why not make something totally new using a PTR08100w, OKR-T/10, PTN04050C or what ever.

Sadly, it is currently in a backup role. I have a PTR08100W in hand and a FEDEX tracking number for  PTR08060W - 6-A, 4.5V to 14V Input, Non-Isolated, Wide Output, Adjustable Power Module PTR08060WVD 1 of 1 part(s) Shipped 25 Apr 2014 PTN04050C - 12-W, 3.3/5-V Input, Wide Adjust Output Boost Converter PTN04050CAH 1 of 1 part(s) Shipped 25 Apr 2014 PTN04050CAD 1 of 1 part(s) Shipped 25 Apr 2014  ;cheers;
I am looking forward to building these mods inspired by others from this forum.
 I guess to answer your question, "If it still works why not leave it as is for a backup?" there are two reasons;

1. Sentimental value; this was my first vv/vw unit. It is also currently the only vv/vw in my inventory.
2. The modding bug; I have built 5 mods so far and am obseesed with building! :yes"

I would like to see this thing transformed into something new and I value the suggestions and opinions this forum offers.

I don't know the performance capability of the iTazete but if you are going to put it in another enclosure I would beef up the input and output wires and use a quality 18650 or Li-Po battery.

Good luck with your mod. Have you decided on an enclosure?

Nothing solid yet. A few of my ideas range from tins to tubes. At this point still planning and researching possibilities. I am open to ANY suggestions forum members may have.
I would like to see everyone look at this as if They were going to build this what would they do? :idea:

I was looking at my EP, the base model to yours, and was thinking a side by side, by putting the clearomizer down and along side of the battery with just the drip tip sticking above the battery.

OK so I was reading the topic; Box mod No2 ;and saw a design I am going to use for this build. Mandro has some amazing self built enclosures that I think will work well here. Mandro's raptor enclosure in particular should work well!
 :thankyou: Mandro!!!!!

Have you thought of doing any meter testing with loads equivalent to atty coils for amperage, input voltage drop and output voltage loaded and unloaded?

That's a tiny battery they put in those.  I'd probably have a go with a flat LiPo cell or a regular 18650.  Those round foil encased batteries they use in the eGos and the like are pretty crappy really.  They're 2C LiCo batteres that have poor longevity and poor power delivery.

A better battery will actually improve the performance of the electronics and may allow you to squeeze a little more power out of it if desired.  You can tell for sure when you take measurements under load.

Probably not a big deal, just wait until the cell wears out in another iTaste and use the guts out of that.  From my experience with the eGos my wife uses, it doesn't take all that long for those cheap cells to wear out.  From comments I've seen the iTaste cells aren't any better.
