PTN4050 micro keychain mod
« on: May 20, 2014, 04:16:23 PM »
I am pissed off my favorite C&K  tact switch has gone in the crapper the 4amp awesome hard as heck to push tact has stopped working on my keychain mod it works intermittently..
I remembered I haven't posted this mod yet,  I have a few more that I need to post but need some parts to finish/purdy them up, they are works in progress lol..  Like I need them but haha yous knows...

This is my now broken keychain mod 3.8v to 6.2v PTN4050c  I uber glued the button to the case lid, I used the sanded particles mixed with super glue to form a glue wall so probably out of luck but hopeful I can dismantle it, but I already know its welded gewd..

It started from this..

Thanks

Its a 650mah round lipo plenty of room in there with a very short 510, hacked from an innokin Iclear 16 internal base its a really good connector.  you have to torch and wrestle the wick standoff out of it though..
Ordering a few more,  I oops with the iron when replacing the button--
The damage is not noticeable on the face but indented on the side and also made the hole premature for the pot. I moved it forward so i could put in a 1/8" mono jack for charging, moved it too much and the 1/8" jack does not fit with the routed wiring in this one so  it stays charging on alligator clips :wallbash:...  They are really nice 1/8" jacks from keystone and the next build will be 100% better.  Its really cool with the tact but I have one left and it goes in another mod, so used a regular c&k  pushbutton..

Made a silly vid

Its for emergency situations when run out of battery, cause talks too much and did not/never bring  spare batts,  oh yeah keychain mod...  :laughing2:
Has happened too many times

I usually carry a cigalike and an aa box mod and this.  Good for 12 hours or more but somedays vape before leaving house and gas station here I come if to far from house..

Last year this time not many gas stations had e-cigs now every one has them..

For sure, nifty.  Good little backup.  There's no way one of those disposable e-cigs from the gas station is going to work as well as that.

Something like this?

I do really like that little guy, I may have to add that to my mod list. That's one of OKW's boxes isn't it?

How much vape time do you get out of it.

Thats it. 9amp lil powerful guy fuse taped on body of batt
It needs a charge port or you'll have to alligator clip it to charge it..
I clip the 510 and the Vi switch post--pain in the rear,  so sometimes cannot use cause lazy did not charge it lol..
Its used infrequently but I have another aa box mod with same batt I use all the time 1ohm 4-7 hours depending on vape frequency of course.  Many people will get a full day
out it,  I vape constantly.

it's a slightly modified OKW enclosure Smart case xs
It has plastic board mount tabs that need to be cut off, really neat cause it locks down with a torx scew..
http://www.okwenclosures.com/products/okw/smart.htm

Future charge port:  Keystone 982TR
You also have to take the legs off the 4050c

I used the 20A Dlynx. They are not through hole so careful with your soldering and stress on the wires after you solder them on. I lifted a pad on my first one due to droping it with a battery holder attached with batteries.   Doh:

Niiiiice woot OKW

Ya had the medium lol..

The soft case is biodegradable the ejuice might just make that known,  make sure to first run a test on it to see if it etches the plastic.
leave some on it a few days before modding just to be sure.  Ejuice is a persnickety substance and eats some plastics like tanks.
I never used a tank cracker juice in my vivi and 7 months later it spider webbed then cracked..
Same goes for my evods/ce4's they last me about 3-5 months before spider webbing..

OT cause happy bout it..
Great news I found my 808d2 battery while looking for the medium case in supplies
I remembered I was vaping with it when looking thru supplies a month ago woooot
thought I would never find it tore up my vape room looking for it
so thank ya for making me look lol

Got the charge jack in there and buttoned it up.  Woot
Not pro clean but decent.
Measure three drill one or use fancy graphics to make initials on and cover huge gaping hole ..

Thank you all, thanks Break; couldn't have done any of  it without your forum. The parts for mods section is amazing..
I priced out this build to 35 bucks --whoa
It keeps me analog free, foruming, and building --mostly in me head but I get a few did here or there..
Electronics are uber fun, 26 yrs an electrician ~1 yr playing with electronics and still lost  both are uber..
They are similar but not similar.

Thanks again..

Very cool, if you make a few more, I'm sure you'll get them factory looking.  Nothing like practice to hone your craftsmanship.
