Vamped Battery
« on: July 14, 2014, 03:17:09 PM »
So I have been seeing this new battery "the vapor battery". What does everyone think about this battery? I'm about to purchase some batteries wondering if I should get these off play it safe with vtc4/5? http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-FKYlYAa-Vpw/U8CvA7vmRRI/AAAAAAAAXG4/RSxBUBfxbHQ/s1600/Capcvcvxture.JPG

Never heard of it.

My attitude is be wary of brands that have no reputation.  A lot of Chinese makers will slap a label on there with wildly exaggerated specs.  Don't know whether that is or is not the case for that battery.

If you buy any, test them first with a heavy load.  If you're seeing any more voltage sag than you get with a VTC5, it's not even a 30A battery.  For it to be a 40A battery it needs to see no more than 6 to 8 mOhms DCR.  So with a 10A load, if voltage drops more than 80mV, it's not a 40A battery.

I can see a bad sign already in the specs, impedance states 18 mOhms which is too high.  Impedance can be a little higher than DCR, but there's normally not a big difference between those specs.  A battery with 18 mOhms impedance would have 20A continuous drain at most.  Compare it to the VTC5 or HE2 which list impedance 12 or 13 mOhms.
