I looked over the PMBus info a bit. It looks pretty complicated, but I'd like to give it a shot.  Wondering if anyone has tried yet.  Thanks!

I didn't read the data sheet to see what exactly the PMBus allows you to do, but assuming it can control output voltage it would be better than using a digital pot since it would likely render better resolution and eliminate some parts.  However, the PMBus protocol is not a standard interface for most MCU's.  Typically it's SPI and I2C.  Though it should not be terribly hard to program the interface given the specification.

Ahh, I see.  PMBus via i2c. :)  I'm starting to read more into it now. Looks very cool.
