Hey peeps,

So I've hosted a couple of 50W iStick coops, still in the middle of round 2, and I included back-ups for defective unit exchanges.

I received 5 exchanges with various issues and decided to part these out, I have 2 blue, 2 black and 1 silver bodies.

The battery packs are pretty much brand new and all 5 are in perfect working order. Each pack is 4400mah and they're wired in parallel. Pos and neg leads are in tact and ready for mounting. The wire that was used on these packs is industrial grade heavy braided wire with a very thin insulator, but it's all wrapped well with Kapton tape and double-sided sticky foam tape.

2 of the 5 body internals appear to be functional and the screen comes on and displays the correct info when connected to a USB charging cable. The other 3 devices the screen is blank. 4 of the 5 did vape, but the screen wouldn't function. Tearing them down and sealing the pos/neg connections on the board seemed to have fixed at least 1 of them...so the controller could be fully functional now.

Here's some images of the internals (scroll through the page to see all images):

http://msnikita.com/2015/02/eleaf-istick-50w-disassembled/

These are not my images, but they'll give you a really good look at the controller, the display and the pack.

The packs have been removed from the control board and the leads wrapped in Kapton tape. Then wrapped in soft foam packing and taped.

The control board and button assemblies have been re-installed into the colored body and screwed together. So the bodies are fully intact and buttons functional....just no battery pack.

Here's what I'm offering for sale.

(5) near new 4400mah Lipo battery packs = $15/ea

(1) Blue body 50W fully functional internals and buttons (no damage) = $10/ea

(1) Silver body 50W fully functional internals and buttons (no damage) = $10/ea

(1) Blue body 50W fully functional buttons, DOA controller (no damage) = $5/ea

(2) Black body 50W fully functional buttons, DOA controller (no damage) = $5/ea

Note: mounting screws take a T6 Torx bit.

If interested, drop me a PM with this info.

Price change...

Surprised no modders would want these packs? These things would be insanely expensive retail....IF you could even find one?

The enclosures alone would be a great project box.

I guess that you and I are the only 2 peeps that see the real value in these Wayne.

PM replied.

I was just planning a 9000 mah mod for these too.

Don't be surprised if you and I have the very same vision for these.  :yes"

I'll probably have more exchanges after round 2, so I may have more in a couple months from now.

Heh, I think we just don't get as much traffic here in the classified section.  Which is lucky for me!

Not sure what direction I'll go with these yet, but a lot of the fun is in the scheming, anyway.

Now I can hardly wait to get my little grubbies on them!
Thanks,
Wayne

Okay then, just don't stack them on top of each other...

"I'm sorry Wayne, you just can't do that..."  :laughing2:

Hey times,
Just wanted to let you know the packages arrived just now (that was quick). I've only peeked at the contents so far, but everything's there and is in fine shape.
Thanks much for the great deal!

Just a short update:  Already vapping on one of the blue ones.  You could tell it had had a juice bath, so I washed and dried it thoroughly, put it back together, And it's working great.  :D

Juice bath?

Ya know, I didn't even stop to think about that possibility until a couple days ago.

These 50's seem to be failing all over the net and that was one of the primary causes ....juice getting inside either thru the 510 or the fire button.

All 5 were dead when they arrived to me....so separating the packs from the electronics was my first step, then testing the controllers using the USB charger showed that 2 were still functional.

Glad you found the cause of one of the failures.

Yeah, haven't even opened up the silver one yet, but it seems to be functioning too.  First one I took apart was one of the dead black ones (always learn on the lower value unit).  The batteries for that one will make a sweet raptor mod, I'm sure.

P.S. - thought I should mention for the sake of any iStick owners out there, the design of the display makes a great "wick" (capillary action), so if you get juice on it, you have juice on your electronics.  It will fail sooner or later if you don't clear it.

ETA: Took the silver apart, didn't see anything unusual, put a battery pack on it, seems to be working great.  Oh yeah the blue is giving symptoms of a intermittent fire switch ( switching between VV and VW, etc.)  Luckily, I have spare switches on hand  :laughing2:, if it gets bad enough to worry me.

I'll have a few more of these available in about a month.

If anyone would like to reserve them now, post and I'll start a running list.

The bodies with the electronics will be $10/ea and the 4400mah packs will be $15/ea.

Some of these are repairable.

Yep...the VW to VV switch is a flaw and why that particular one failed.

You'll probably still be able to use it, but for how long is unknown?

The packs are excellent quality though...and the bodies are great project enclosures.

But the electronics?
