Co-Op for the Mitec MSW-1202 Fire Button
« on: May 19, 2015, 09:44:05 AM »
Gonna post this here first to see if anybody over here is interested?

Since these switches are so difficult to obtain and pretty much cannot be located anywhere in the states, I'm gonna offer a coop for them.

http://www.mitec.com.hk/MSW-1202

MOQ (last I looked) is 20 of them for $6/ea, not including freight, fees and import duties.

100 of them is $4.30/ea I think...but I'd have to get a new quote.

If you're interested, just post your interest to show user name and how many you'd want...like this:

timesarerough = 10
You = 5
Next guy = 8

When you post your interest, copy the list above you and paste it to your post and add your name to the running list.

If we reach 100 pieces, the price per each is gonna drop quite a bit but keep in mind that other costs have to be added onto the total before I can calculate the final costs per each switch.

And don't forget about priority shipping to you, which would be $5.25

You can even order 1 piece here:

http://www.modmaker.co.uk/Mod-Making-Supplies/Switches/12mm-Vandal-Resistant-Switch-MSW-1202

I don't live in the UK, so importing one would be insanely expensive.

Even 10 of them wouldn't justify the cost, I'd be better off buying 20 from Mitec and it would probably cost less.

There's also a coop for them at the ECF, gotta be a verified member there though to access the classifieds and coop section.

varitube.com stocks the mitec switches, but MSW-1201 and MSW-1601 though ( these have the flat actuator).

Yea...I know, $9/ea.

But most peeps don't like the flush plunger, myself included.

Leaves a nice uncomfortable ring indent in your finger.

The raised plunger is definitely the way to go!  :yes"

There's enough combined entries so we should be able to get a decent price for them.

Yup...we have enough interest.

Also offering fuses and C&K tactiles both standard and right angle.

Stranded wire and micro 1A chargers are also being considered:

These are not widely known, but they're the same size an Evolv board....for a fraction of the price.

Evolv is about to release their own 1A charger very soon, if not already? But the cost could be significant, price isn't known yet. (Guessing $7.50/ea, but be as much as $10/ea)

These however....are inexpensive and perform very well and are about $1/ea in small quantities.

Why buy from FT and pay a premium?

I'd be buying them directly from the manufacturer.

And I just got news that Evolv's new 1A charger (some sold in a recent coop) are failing within a couple of days.

Sounds like Evolv hasn't worked out their "new release" problems yet?

Nope, minimum order is 20....but the price per switch is higher $6/ea.

If we can hit 100, price drops to about $4.30/ea (before freight/fees/import taxes).

But there's enough interest on several forums, might even be able to reach 100 in the next week or two?

I'm also gonna be offering a nice variety of much needed modding components.

Like high strand count high temp silicone wire in various gauges, possibly those 1A micro chargers, C&K tacts (standard & right angle), SMD fuses, etc...

More participants = everything gets cheaper.

That high strand count silicone jacketed wire is really nice stuff.  I use it whenever I need a flexible wire.  It's hard to find cheap.  I have stock of it, but I need more 24, 22, and 16 gauge.  Need red and black.  I could probably use some blue or white jacket in all but 20 gauge.   If you've never used it, you'll find it a huge improvment over the cheap PVC jacketed stuff you find at most electronics shops.  The best thing about it aside from being highly flexible is the jacket doesn't melt when you solder it.  That drives me nuts with the PVC stuff.  Anyone who builds mods should have stock.

I've been using the HK stuff, Turnigy 200c.

It's the cheapest and best stuff that I can find atm.

I don't need a reel, otherwise I could get it much cheaper....but for the size of the coop, it's prolly gonna be HK stuff.

Funny...black and red is also what I ran out of.

Still have enough blue and yellow to get by, but I'd rather have the black and red as well.

Various gauges and colors will be offered.

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/RC_PRODUCT_SEARCH.asp?searchType=10&strSearch=silicone+wire&location=AL&idCategory=&sortBy=Price1&NumPerPage=20&currentPage=

Shipping costs aren't cheap when ordering for yourself.

I've had to order a couple of times just cuz I didn't order enough the first time, so a coop would have been nice.  :yes"

And if you're ordering other parts, you'll save quite a bit more.

The HK Turnigy brand stuff is fine.  One of the reasons I'm low is because they have been out of stock on some of the guages.   Looks like they finally restocked. Also last time I ordered that stuff from the US warehouse they sent me the order in pieces instead of a single length, that was annoying.

I'm pretty ticked off an HobbyKing right now.  They've been sitting on an order of mine from the US warehouse for 2 weeks now.  All of the items were claimed to be in stock.  I tried contacting them over chat support and the guy (probably in China) said, "will get on it right away," couldn't tell me why the order was held up.  Still no sign of shipment two days after talking to customer service.

I'm really tempted to quit buying stuff from Hobbyking altogether.  It's a Chinese organization and they do business in the Chinese way, total lack of customer support and unreliable service.  You can get stuff from them dirt cheap, but if you have to order overseas the shipping costs are high and it's slow, not as bad as Fasttech though.  I think Fasttech has the slowest shipping on the planet.

Oh I have to retract that;

Quote
Anthony Hand Company Owner
Anthony is the Chairman, founder and owner of HobbyKing. Anthony's passion for R/C began in 1989 when he built his first model aircraft, a Sig Cadet, which he promptly crashed on the maiden flight and never flew again due to the high cost of repairs. In 2001 he regained an interest in R/C and started HobbyKing, bringing affordable Radio Control products to the market. Anthony now spends most days looking for new product ideas and 'testing' samples.
His favorite model of all time is the Sonic-64.

Well in any case, they seem to have adopted the Chinese business model, seems to follow since that's were all of their products come from.

Oh wait, no I don't have to retract that, he lives in Hong Kong and that's where he started the company.

I think that Deal Extreme has them beat on slow boat from China and crap customer service.

Average 6-12 weeks with them.

Then there's several eBay sellers.....

I ordered a handful of JST 2-pin wiring harnesses (perfect fit on a DNA30 btw) and they showed up in the mail.....4 months later.

Granted, I did get my money back...but 4 months? raged:

Decent price on some 24awg PTFE wire here:

http://www.ebay.com/sch/m.html?_odkw=wire+awg&_ssn=22newcentury&item=311274836056&_osacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p2046732.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.Xwire+awg+hi-temp.TRS0&_nkw=wire+awg+hi-temp&_sacat=0

It's not gonna be the "wet noodle" silicone, but I like a little bit stiffer wire...easier to mount components and push the wiring where I want it to stay.

The silicone jacket on the HK stuff really sucks, just too soft.

If found a couple state surplus sites that also have spools for cheap.

I should have several quotes on Monday for teflon coated stranded wire in various gauges.

I'd like to try to avoid HK wire and get something better.

I'd definitely prefer bare copper wire over tinned or silver-plated.

I have used car audio wire. Has a tough coating and it pure copper. Cheap if you buy from the source. Such as:  http://www.stingerelectronics.com/products.aspx?category=Wire&categoryid=8&attributeparentid=19&attributeparentname=WIRE TYPE&attributeid=216&attributecontent=Hook-up
They just don't generally carry anything smaller than 18ga. I used this place when I had my audio shop

SMD resettable fuses (2920L700SL)

http://www.littelfuse.com/products/resettable-ptcs/low-resistance/lorho/2920l700sl.aspx

2 of these in parallel (per battery) are sufficient for the Evolv DNA's, which would be a 14A hold and a 28A trip.

How many are ordered as a group will dictate the price per each.

http://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/2920L700SLPR/F6137CT-ND/4147147

At 100 price drops considerably.

I have a larger coop going at the ECF.

I will go through the process of getting verified on ECF, haven't been on there for awhile. Darn only 4 posts, I mostly commented. Anyway I'd take 30 for sure maybe more if price was good.

That would be helpful in hitting 100 of them for sure.

Waiting right now on pre-live approval.

ECF has weird coop rules so I gotta get authorization to have one of their dumb rules bent for us.  :yes"

And here we go with yet more dumb ECF coop rules, a new rule has been recently added.

The coop is okay to run, but I can't run it here or anywhere else.

So anybody here that wants to be in this coop...has gotta move to the ECF thread.

Since that's where the majority of interested peeps is located, then that's where y'all gotta move to.

Those of you in here that already know me personally, I can take care of you myself if you don't already have an account at the ECF.

You should sign up a membership over there and get verified.

I think with Mike's coop for the new DNA, this parts coop could get BIG!

And the bigger, the better...cuz that means everything gets cheaper.

Coop will be opening for official interest on the darkside tomorrow.

I'll post a link here to the thread, but you'll have to be a verified member at the ECF to see it.

Here's how you become verified over there:

https://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/threads/how-to-become-a-verified-member.283955/

The coop will be offering the MiTec 1202, Teflon and Silicone wire, Littelfuse PTC resettable fuses, C&K domed tacts, 1A micro USB chargers and a metal enclosure w/magnetic cover (Subox Mini).

The link will be to the new interest thread where you can place a tentative order, so I can determine how many of each item needed.

Once everyone's done, a LIVE thread will be opened and everyone can place their actual orders.

I was definitely interested in some of the Littlefuse PTC resettable ones. Tried clicking the new link you had posted but got an error saying I don't have permission. I was logged in too.
