When first starting Payroll:
On the menu bar of the main form, you can enter the State tax rate by clicking on File, Open (When asked “…..SAVE PREVIOUS USER?” click NO) and find your State file name. Then go to the main form menu again and click File, Save and enter the employee/user name as you would like it to appear if printing a payroll check..
On the Menu, click Options, User Info. Complete the necessary information and then click the SAVE button. Five of the deduction boxes are editable. See Deductions
On the Menu, click Options, State Tax. Complete the necessary information and then click the SAVE button. The states shown are non typical tax formulas. That is why they were incorporated into the program. See the your state’s sample at
https://payroll.breaktru.com. Just copy the information shown.
On the Menu, click Options, City Tax. Complete the necessary information and then click the SAVE button. If you do not have local or city taxes, check the NO CITY TAX box.
On the Menu, click Forms, Year to Date. Before entering any info, Click the Close button and then click the YES button to Save the YTD form.
On the Menu, click Forms. Do the same with Vacation and O.T.%.
On the Menu, click Options, Header. You may want to enter your company info here. This will print out on the report.
Most important- On the Menu, click File, Save. Change the State name to the employee’s name as you would want it printed out on a pay check. The reason behind saving all of these forms is to insure that the correct File Name is associated with the proper employee’s form. For Multiple User Setup see State Form’s Make Default and Get Default buttons.
For New User Files: It is highly recommended that you enter all User Info, State Tax Table & City Tax Table and then SAVE. Do this with each user (employee) before doing any withholding calculation. This will ensure that the correct year to date, State Table and City Tables are saved to the correct user (employee).
NOTE:So not to enter employee info all over again, you can copy the employee (user) files from last years version into this years version. Just clear the "Year to Date" form, row by row after copying and running the software. (employee files start w/ the employee's name)
ONLY copy employee files and not the program and state files.VERY IMPORTANT: Only for copied employee, if your state is one of the states that have a state check box in the state form, UN-check the state box and RE-check it so it updates to the NEW tax changes. Otherwise the old tax rates will apply.
