Ohmmeter help!
« on: September 29, 2012, 05:37:44 AM »
I am going to build my first box mod. I have some stuff coming and I need help. Here is the list of components that I bought and or am getting as samples:
A Lipo battery voltage checker 1s-6s (whatever "s" is)
An LM 2596 power module
A PTR08100W (hopefully a few of them)
A couple of PTR08060WVD modules
And hopefully a couple project boxes.

I think I know how to wire everything up. I'm a SteelJan fan and I think I got it, but, I would like to include the capability to read coil resistance. Is there any way to do that with what I have in my list?
I am a beginner in electronics but have built my share of crystal radios and radio shack projects (when they still had those). I can follow a schematic but I don't know what or why I did it when I'm done. I'm trying to learn more about it but for now I ask a lot of dumb questions.
Thanks guys

Nice list of parts for a VV mod with voltage reading capability.
However there is nothing there to read resistance or amperage and believe it's more involved than slapping parts together.
You probably need to build a circuit to do that. At least you have skill to read and follow schematics. That's more than some first time mod builders can do.

Thought that it might be inherent in the chip of one of the modules.

Found a schematic for an ohmmeter.

I would love to see the ohmmeter in your mod when you complete it.
Please do post some photos.....

You would have to isolate the ohmmeter circuit when you are firing up the atty for vaping.

How's the ohm meter coming along?

I found a thing on YT where the guy cliped a wire on one of the oblong 1s-6s led modules and it read ohms but became useless as a voltmeter but why couldn't that wire he cut be switched? I think it would work without an ardino (sp), or I could have two leds but that would just be silly. I'm still getting all the tools I need to make stainless steel tube mods like the genesis or golden greek (machinable ceramic is expensive). I'm about $250 away from my goal so box mods are on hold for me right now. I just like playing with ideas so I will have solutions to problems when they come up.

Here is a video of an Ohmmeter / Voltmeter combo. Courtesy of sokin1967

Im very new to this and I was told I could make an ohm tester using a mini digital ampere panel to do this. If this is possible can someone please help me out
