Restore from CD
« on: November 15, 2008, 09:26:02 AM »
To restore to a new hard drive you MUST install software by running the setup.exe. Software should NOT be copied. However the files created by the software can be backed up and copied. That's any software. If you are just restoring the user/employee files reinstall is NOT necessarry.

*Copy ONLY the employee/user files from your CD back to your hard drive and NOT the program files. See help file topic: "Backup".

When restoring/coping from any CD, the files that are copied to your hard drive become "Read-only". That's any files on CD. The employee files for the Payroll software will need to be written to each time you run the program. "Read-only" is just what it says and can not be written to. An error will pop up that the files are corrupted.
The "Read-only" attribute needs to be removed as follows:
In either "My Computer" or "Window Explorer", Find the employee's files (only) and right click each one or select all the employee files at once and right click. now click "Properties" and UNCHECK the "Read-only" box.

Remember, run the setup.exe then copy the user/employee files
then remove the "Read-only" attribute.
