OKR + Zener
« on: September 23, 2012, 07:35:40 PM »
Hi All,

Me again back with another question - I've used Mamu's wonderful OKR circuit with 10k Ohm resistor accross pins 1+2 and i'm looking to add up a zener diode at 5.6v to pin 1 on the circuit to limit the battery cutoff to around 6v - now i've seen Mamu's diagram on how to do it so no worries there but just wondering if anyone can tell me - adding this to the control pin will give a battery cut off of approx 6v but as i'm using the control pin with resistor would a 1/2w or even 1/4w zener suffice or would i need to go with something bulkier -

I would ask Mamu herself but i'm pretty sure she gets enough PM's without me bothering her - and if she's a member here would just like to say the circuit works awesome for the OKR and thank you

The DO35 package you'd likey use (the one that looks like a 1/4 Watt through hole resistor) is typically 1/2 Watt so selection shouldn't be an issue.  If you happen to have one of the rather uncommon 1/4 watt ones, it will work.  Current is limited by the resistor so the diode would never see more than a few milli-Watts anyway.

Thanks Craig that's what i figured beings as the control pin is used for running the circuit through a tactile switch - But always better to ask those in the know
